Emma Larson

Meet Emma Larson.

Q: Where do you go to school?

A: Ramsey High School.

Q: Please tell us about your current plans after high school. And what inspired you to choose this path?

A: Next year I will be attending Vassar College and will be playing on the Women’s lacrosse team! As of right now, I plan on studying Biology and on a Pre-Med track! I’ve always been interested in helping people and I love science, so going Pre-Med sounds like a perfect fit for me!

Please tell us a little bit about your family.

A: I have 2 amazing parents and I am also 1 of 4 kids. I have an older sister, Devan, who is 22 and graduated from Syracuse this year. I also have 2 younger brothers, Tyler (15) and Trace (10). My siblings are practically my best friends and I love spending time with them. We also have 2 cats, Charlie and Wilson, and are (hopefully) getting a puppy!

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

A: I love Chick-fil-A. A few of my other favorites are Yogybee Waldwick and Poke Time. A few of our family favorites for take out are Moes, Mahwah/Allendale Bar & Grill or really anywhere we can get wings!

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?

A: The most interesting person I’ve met in Ramsey is definitely Kevin Veenstra. He is one of my dad’s best friends who has grown to be a really close family friend. He works as a paramedic and is one of the funniest people I know! It’s very entertaining watching him going from his serious “life saving” job to my dad’s crazy best friend! He is known for cooking crazy delicious food and always having a good time. He always keeps us on our toes. He also does Spartan Races and runs marathons!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?

A: If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, I would go to Tanzania. Last summer I spent 18 days with friends from school in Tanzania, Africa and it was the best 18 days ever! I can’t wait for the day I get to go back.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: My 2 favorite movies are Can’t Buy Me Love (a classic) and Moana. My favorite TV show is Grey’s Anatomy, which makes sense considering I want to go Pre-Med!! I also loved binging Outer Banks on Netflix.

Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?

A: My favorite teacher, Mrs. Gorman would always tell us really empowering things in class. She really focused on our well being as people and always did everything she could to make us happy. I’m not sure of a specific quote but everything she has said to me has been meaningful and important!

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?

A: Post Malone 100%. His concert was life changing.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: I would have lunch with Post Malone, even though I would probably be too starstruck to even talk to him! He is my favorite celebrity and has been for so long. I would take him to CARS in town, I feel like he would really enjoy some Mac N’ Cheese bites and a Fat Tony!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

A: I love the pride and sense of community that we have in Ramsey. Everyone here is so proud to be a Ram.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

A: In 5-10 years, hopefully I’ll be in medical school happy and healthy!

Q: What show are you binge watching right now?

A: I’m watching Grey’s Anatomy again for about the 5th time. I just finished binging Outer Banks and probably will watch it again too.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

A: My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving by far! I love my extended family and spending time with them. As much as I hate running a 5k on that morning, I love the food we eat (mashed potatoes are my favorite food ever).

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My family inspires me to be better. They have always have really high expectations for me and support me in everything I do. I love them so much and I will do anything I can to NOT fail for them.

Q: If you could go back over your entire school career what is one thing you would do different?

A: I would try a lot harder in school and sports. Now that my senior year has been cut short, I’ve realized how important it is to take advantage of everything, including the little things in life because you never know when they will be taken away.

Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?

A: I miss school the most. I miss seeing my teachers everyday! Being at the high school for 4 years, I made so many close bonds with the staff. They are all so supportive and so encouraging and I miss seeing them around. Obviously, I miss seeing my friends! I also miss my lacrosse coaches and teammates like crazy and would do anything to be back on the field with them. As much as I dreaded the early mornings, I would do anything to go back to school one more time. It’s very frustrating that something out of our control has taken the end of my high school experience away from me, just when it was getting to the best part.

Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?

A: The first thing I want to do when quarantine is over is to have a gigantic group hug with all of my friends.
